Graphics check

Use this skill before any image, social graphic, banner or one-pager ships: is this on brand, check the graphic, resize for the other channels, the screenshot is cut off, can we generate an image for this. Produces the pass or fix list against the brand tokens and the graphic rules (padding, real screenshots, text size, safe zones), and the resized set per channel.

This applies to every image. It produces graphics that read as the company’s and never a screenshot sliced at the frame.

Before you start

This skill works on its own. If the person has their own marketing brain (or any folder of context files about their company), read the files listed under reads in the header first and cite them for every fact. If they do not have one, do not look for one: ask for the two or three facts this play needs and go on. Never invent a fact; a blank is a question for the person.

Tools: this play speaks in verbs (check the CRM, pull the call, schedule the post). TOOLS.md at the root of this repo lists the tools recommended for each verb. The company’s own 1-context/stack.md wins when it exists. No tool is required; a spreadsheet and a mail client cover most of it.

The play

  1. Read the context (see Before you start) and the brand tokens from the design system in 1-context/stack.md: colors, type, logo rules, the current look.
  2. Check content first: naming current, claims and customers cleared, no filler labels, headline states the point.
  3. Check layout: padding around every screenshot and image on all sides, nothing clipped at the frame edge, text readable at phone size, logos and headline inside the safe zone for vertical formats.
  4. Check source: product images are real screenshots from the current release. No AI-generated imagery of the product or its output; any generated art needs a decision recorded before it is used, and never for print.
  5. Check brand: palette, type, logo lockup, the diagram-over-text-card preference where the content allows.
  6. Produce the fix list with the specific element and the change, or pass.
  7. Resize the approved graphic for each channel on the calendar entry, re-checking padding and safe zones at each size.

What good looks like

  • The best operator looks at the graphic at phone size first. Most clipping and unreadable text only shows there.
  • The mediocre version checks colors and misses the screenshot cut off at the side.
  • Good output is a set of sizes where every one passes the same checks and the product looks like itself.

Rules

  • MUST leave padding around every image and screenshot; nothing clipped at the edge.
  • MUST use real product screenshots for the product.
  • NEVER use an AI image generator without a recorded decision, and never for print.
  • NEVER ship a graphic with an uncleared customer or figure.
